Understanding your community's river
, Ufford, Suffolk, IP13 6DS
About the event
This day’s course is designed for community groups, parish councils and local river champions wishing to optimise their local river habitats for wildlife and take action on the ground.
The course will take place at St Mary's Church Hall, Ufford (opposite the Church) and draw on the expertise of the Trust's Wilder Rivers Adviser, Alice Wickman and David Findley from the Deben Climate Centre, who will have a special focus on water quality.
During the first half of the day, Alice will present and you will learn about what makes a naturally functioning river system and how to enhance this valuable habitat for wildlife. Following that, David will present about water quality monitoring and during the second half of the day there will be a practical demonstration.
We will provide examples of successful community action river projects and give you the knowledge to undertake a project yourself. This course will enable and inspire you to take action to improve your local river.
Tea & coffee will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own re-usable mug, or a flask.
You will also need:
A packed lunch
Notepad and pen
A camera or binoculars if you wish
Please dress suitably for the weather and for walking along the river. We advise you wear long trousers rather than shorts.
When booking please ensure your email/contact address is correct as it will be used to send event joining instructions. If you do not receive these instructions after booking, please contact: networks@suffolkwildlifetrust.org
