Workshop: Robin willow sculpture weaving
Lackford Lakes Nature Reserve & Visitor Centre,
Lackford Lakes, Bury St Edmunds , Suffolk, IP28 6HXEvent details
About the event
Handmake your own robin sculpture in this workshop with willow artist Toni Cross.
The robin is made from a mixture of different willow varieties, as well as some coloured wire, and is mounted on a small log. The finished robin sculpture stands around 40-50cm. We work with willow which has been grown in Somerset and specially dried. In order to be suitable for weaving it is then soaked to make it pliable.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, and those with some experience. Some degree of finger strength and dexterity is required.
All materials included, however if you wish to bring preferred secateurs or garden cutters, you are welcome to do so.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. The cafe will be open for the duration, serving savoury food and sweet treats.
