WHAT WE DO

Our Engagement team are inspiring people and communities across Suffolk to connect with nature and to take positive actions for wildlife.

One of our key goals is to inspire 1 in 4 people in Suffolk acting for nature and climate, so that we all make choices and take actions that benefit wildlife; and enable nature to recover and thrive. Our Engagement teams deliver events and activities at our nature reserves and with local communities to educate about nature and to inspire as many people as possible to take meaningful choices in favour of wildlife.

There are so many ways to make Suffolk wilder again if enough of us care, and by supporting community-led activities and developing local wildlife knowledge, we create ripples of activity which build their own momentum for nature.

Events, courses & training

At our nature reserves and in community green spaces across the county, we deliver a huge range of events, courses and activities for different age groups and abilities that are all designed to connect people with nature, to share wildlife knowledge, and to develop a county-wide movement of nature-concious communities.

From family events to accredited training, we have something for everyone.

Hosting and working with schools

We work with schools and education centres across Suffolk to deliver learning activities that inspire children's curiousity in the natural world and get them closer to nature. We have three approaches to working with schools: Officer-led schools visits hosted by a member of our Engagement team, school-led visits on our nature reserves, and our Wilder Schools programme - where we work with schools to deliver longer-term education and wildlife projects with students.

Community outreach

As part of our goal to inspire and enable 1 in 4 people in Suffolk to take action for nature, we have dedicated Wilder Communities Officers who work with local community groups in Ipswich, Lowestoft, Woodbridge, and West Suffolk to help them grow their wildlife knowledge and create wildlife-friendly green spaces in their neighbourhoods.
