Wild Beach Leader Training - Level 3
About the event
Led by an experienced Wild Beach and Forest School Leader, this Level 3 course, accredited by AIM qualifications is suitable for practitioners wishing to use the beach as a learning environment.
Location: Sizewell Beach, IP16 4UH
Course dates: 15th-17th July 2025
Suffolk's 50 mile stretch of heritage coastline is a natural resource on our doorstep. This course will provide teachers, support staff, outdoor educators and youth group leaders with the skills and confidence to make the most out of our beaches.
Course consists of 4 units:
- Keeping safe on the beach
- Practical skills on the beach
- Understanding the beach environment
- Ocean connection
Areas of learning include:
- Risk benefit analysis
- Understanding tides
- Shelter, games and activities
- Marine wildlife identification
- Cooking outdoors
- Sustainability and marine conservation zones
Practical skills will be assessed on the course and course work will need to be submitted in the following 6 months. The qualification is 5 credits.
What will I need for the course?
Please make sure you bring the following with you each day:
- Packed lunch, cup and snacks.
- Suitable outdoor clothing for the weather conditions.
- A camera can be useful for recording some of the activities.
We will provide:
- Hot drinks
- All required paperwork
- All tools and equipment for the outdoor tasks
(N.B. For a variety of reasons we would ask you not to bring your own tools)
