The opportunity
Our café is a really important part of our visitors experience at the reserve – brightening someones day with an artisan coffee, locally roasted or warming them after a walk with a toasted ciabatta or tea cake! As a volunteer, you will assist the team at Lackford to serve visitors from the café and retail area.

You might like to assist in the visitor centre. This will involve welcoming and assisting visitors, serving drinks/cake/gifts, using a till and talking to visitors about joining Suffolk Wildlife Trust.

You might like to help the wild learning officer with school groups, events and activity days. This might involve helping the participants to complete tasks such as crafts, trails or finding minibeasts. You may also be required to help prepare resources.

Full training will be given and out of pocket expenses paid.

The skills you need
No skills needed other than good communication, friendly and willing to help and an interest in wildlife and enjoy talking passionately about Lackford and the work of Suffolk Wildlife Trust to visitors.

What you'll get out of it
The chance to be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team. You'll learn new skills and share your enthusiasm for wildlife, learning more about the work of the Trust along the way. Lackford is also a beautiful place to spend time.

The time you need to give:
Volunteering can be for as little as a couple of hours per week. We have a variety of times available that need filling depending on what you might be doing that day!

How to Apply
