Drive and Smile Volunteer Opportunity

What You Will Be Doing
Suffolk Wildlife Trust is working to bring back nature by protecting more land and inspiring people to take action for wildlife. Fundraising is a big part of making this happen, helping us care for our nature reserves and protect important species.

As a Driving and Smile Volunteer, you’ll be helping by collecting and delivering fundraising collection pots around Suffolk. You’ll pick up full pots from local businesses, swap them for empty ones, and return the full pots to one of our offices or reserves. You’ll also deliver fundraising materials, like posters and other fundraising material.

When you’re out and about, you’ll be representing Suffolk Wildlife Trust with a friendly smile, thanking supporters, and letting them know how much their help means to our cause. You’ll also keep an eye out for new places that might be happy to host a collection pot or display a campaign poster. A couple of times a year, you’ll be invited to a get-together with other volunteers to catch up and hear about how your work is making a difference.

The Skills You Need
To do this role, you’ll need a valid UK driving licence and access to a car. You should be friendly, polite, and happy to chat with supporters. Being organised and reliable will help too, as we’ll rely on you to collect pots and pass on any messages from businesses or donors.

What You’ll Get Out of It
This is a great way to support a local wildlife charity that’s making a real difference for nature in Suffolk. You’ll gain experience working with a professional team and have the chance to meet new people. We’ll provide training and ongoing support You can also claim out-of-pocket expenses and mileage at the HMRC rate of 45p per mile.

The Time You Need to Give
We’ll work with you to plan your collection routes, aiming to group stops together to save you time. On average, you’ll be needed for about two days per month, though some months may be busier than others. Locations will be agreed in advance, and you can choose whether you’d prefer to cover the west, east, or north of Suffolk.
