WeeklyWhat you will be doing:
Our café is a really important part of our visitors experience at the reserve – brightening someones day with an artisan coffee, locally roasted or warming them after a walk with a toasted ciabatta or tea cake! As a volunteer, you will assist the team at Lackford to serve visitors from the café and retail area.
This role will involve chatting to visitors whilst serving drinks, light lunches, cakes and retail items, using a till and encouraging visitors to support Suffolk Wildlife Trust by donating, joining in with our work or becoming a member! Previous experience in catering would be great but not essential as full training will be given.
The skills you need:
A passion for chatting to and serving people of all ages, a cheerful nature and always willing to lend a hand to help. You'll need to enjoy serving customers, working in a changing environment and eagerness to learn aspects of the catering/retail offer and keen to talk to people about our work and encouraging people to join as members.
What you'll get out of it:
The chance to be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team. You'll learn new skills and share your enthusiasm for wildlife, learning more about the work of the Trust along the way. Lackford is also a beautiful place to spend time. 10% off in the café and gift shop for all committed volunteers.
The time you need to give:
Minimum 4 hours per week, longer shifts available. Saturday and Sundays are where we need the most help at the moment, but we may have opportunities during the week – contact us to meet up for a chat. All year round.
