About the event

As part of National Nestbox Week, come and make a nestbox to encourage more birds to live in your garden and help us make a wilder Suffolk. We’ll have everything you need to make your nestbox ( if you can bring a small hammer that's helpful) and we’ll help guide you through the process.

These boxes will be made using local, sustainable wood from Bridge Wood, part of Orwell Country Park in Ipswich. The non-native pine trees in Bridge Wood are gradually being removed in order to replant with native species. This will also open up other areas allowing more light through, benefitting a wealth of different species. The trees have been felled and processed by the Greenways Countryside Project along with volunteers from Ipswich Wildlife Group.

We’d love to know where you put your nestbox and who used it. Share a photo and add to our interactive map.
