The inaugural folk event took place in the summer of 2019. Paul May, a member of the West Suffolk Wildlife Group, helped set up the event and attended this Saturday's performance.
Fundraising success of the Folk Event at St Laurence's Church, Lackford
I had a strong interest in folk music, so when we were approached by the Bury Folk Collective to do a fundraiser for Suffolk Wildlife Trust, I was very receptive to the idea and the first Folk at the Lakes held at Lackford lakes visitor centre was very successful.West Suffolk Wildlife Group
The second event, postponed until last October due to COVID, was also very successful. From the fantastic turn out, several people from the local community in attendance suggested Lackford Church (St Lawrence's) as the next venue to hold a bigger audience.
This year's performance featured some fantastic local folk artists; The Larks, Sound Tradition, The Kitchenettes, and Cambridge & Walker, as well as Tom Penn who was also acted as sound technician. St Laurence's Church proved to be a perfect venue, making room for around 100 people who came to see the performances.
Overall, the evening raised over £1,000 for Suffolk Wildlife Trust which is incredible! We want to say a huge thank you to all who were involved in making this fabulous event such a success.
