About the event

Colin grew up in Ipswich and was educated at Cliff Lane Primary School, followed by Northgate Grammar School, then University College London where he read Botany, Zoology, and Geology. He took various teaching posts, becoming Head of Biological Sciences and Head of Science. In 1989, he began studying the life cycle of Stag Beetles which has led to him becoming an international expert on their extraordinary biology, ecology, and symbiotic reliance on a yeast species. He has been recording their distribution in Suffolk for 35 years, an ongoing project.
