Your school visit to Bradfield Woods
The National Nature Reserve status of Bradfield Woods recognises the fact that this is one of the most important woods in the country. Bradfield Woods is steeped in history and brimming with wildlife.
The award-winning carbon-positive building includes a classroom, covered veranda and toilets. It sits amongst the trees and is built almost exclusively with timber from the surrounding woodlands. Your day here will reflect the landscape, habitats and history of Bradfield Woods.
A usual day runs between 10am and 2.30pm. We are flexible half an hour either side of this. Price per pupil is £6, with a minimum of £100 per half day and £150 for a whole day.
Ratio requirement - For Early years we require you to provide a ratio of 1 adult : 4 pupils. For KS1 1:6, for KS2 1:8, for KS3 1:10 and for KS4 1:20.

Invertebrates
An exciting way to investigate habitats, life cycles, learn about classification and how to observe animals closely.
Pupils can use magnifiers and ID sheets to help them identify and sort animals according to the number of legs they have, introducing them to the basics of classification.
Animals
An exciting way to investigate habitats, learn about the animals that live there, their homes, food, and how they are suited to their habitat. Take a close look at skulls, feathers skins and nests to discover more about animal classification.
Plants
This session offers an opportunity to investigate plants, what they need to grow, the function of different parts of the plant and the role of pollinators, through games and activities. They will look at the variety and diversity of flowering plants in the woodland habitat.
Trees
This session offers an opportunity to discover trees by looking up close at the texture of the bark, leaf shapes and the animals living on them. Pupils can discuss the difference between deciduous and evergreen species. Key Stage 1 pupils will create natural artworks and Key Stage pupils will use scientific equipment to calculate the height and age of a tree.
Nature Connection
This visit allows pupils to explore the Nature Reserve, with activities designed to focus their attention and to form connections with nature.
