About the event

Join local willow artist Toni Cross for a morning of dry willow sculpture, to create a hedgehog home for your garden.

In this workshop we will make a hedgehog hibernation house ideal for sheltering hedgehogs over the winter and using various willow weaving techniques.

The hedgehog house is made on a board with holes which will be provided, you finished house can then be lifted away securely at the end. Hedgehog houses can be preserved with varnish or linseed oil if you wish. We work with willow which has been grown in Somerset and specially dried. In order to be suitable for weaving it is then soaked to make it pliable.

Please note that in order to complete the weaving in the timeframe, we work with larger willow on this workshop which requires a bit of effort to bend and shape. Whilst we will always try to help you as much as possible this may make this workshop difficult for people with arthritis or other mobility issues.

This course is suitable for beginners, and those with some experience.

All materials included, however if you wish to bring preferred secateurs or garden cutters, you are welcome to do so.

Tea and coffee will be provided. The cafe will be open for the duration, serving savoury food and sweet treats.

When booking please ensure your email/contact address is correct as it will be used to send event joining instructions. If you do not receive these instructions after booking, please contact: lackford.engagement@suffolkwildlifetrust.org
