About the event

Enjoy an informal, fun and captivating day on the marshes learning a new skill and leaving at the end of the session with a beautiful stained glass hanging picture inspired by the nature reserve around you and that you can put up in your own home. Designed to appeal to budding crafters and hobbyists, the workshop will introduce you to the five stages of the Tiffany technique process and allow you to create your own work of art in stained glass.

There will be just four participants on this full day's course.

Elaine will support you in:

- The basics of cutting glass ie straight lines, curves and circles
- Choosing the glass from a selection offered on the day and cutting out your project
- Grinding the glass edges to a smooth finish to fit the project pattern
- Copper foiling - this is a tape that is sticky on one side and provides a framework for the solder
- Soldering and finishing

Some degree of finger strength and dexterity is required. All materials, equipment, protective wear will be provided.

What to bring:
Your own packed lunch, or order from the cafe for lunchtime (Menu)
Old clothes.
Full length apron and rubber gloves.
Kevlar gloves (optional)
Closed in Footwear
(Please note: Face Shields, Masks and Nitrile Gloves will be provided on the day)

Tea and coffee will be provided and are included in the cost of the course. You will need a packed lunch, unless ordering from the fabulous selection of hot & cold meals from the cafe.

Following retirement from the NHS after over 30 years as a Maxillofacial Prosthetist and Technologist, Elaine was looking for a creative hobby.  Having attended Stained Glass courses, she found the perfect outlet for her creativity. She discovered that the incredible colours and textures of the different glasses, which can be applied to any project, are endless and allow each piece to be unique. She loves the craft and is keen to pass on her passion and knowledge to others.
