Farmland Wildlife Advice Update: Events for farmers & landowners in 2023

Farmland Wildlife Advice Update: Events for farmers & landowners in 2023

Following the great turnout and good reviews of last year’s events, Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Farmland Wildlife Advice Team have created an exciting new events programme for 2023.

The team has visited many farmers and landowners across the county and continue to work with farmers who are passionate about sustainable production and habitat improvement. We are excited, therefore, to be able to showcase some of these farms and for farmers, alongside experts to share knowledge at this year’s Farmland Wildlife Advice events.

These events are intended for any landowner who wants to learn more about creating or managing habitats to support wildlife. Regardless of whether you are a countryside stewardship connoisseur, or are new to managing your land for nature, come and learn practical ideas to inspire you.

“The event gave me the opportunity to learn, get ideas and meet useful contacts.” – Farmland wildlife event attendee 2022

“Both events I attended had very interesting subject matters at very interesting locations. The host farmer / landowners were very knowledgeable on their particular subject. I personally learnt a lot. I also enjoyed speaking to the other people on the visit.” - Farmland wildlife event attendee 2022

At few highlights of this year’s line-up:

  • Learn about ground beetles on your farm with entomologist Dr Kelly Jowett at our ‘Living Soils’ event
  • Explore Raydon Great Wood’s nature-focussed habitat and management with foresters Graham Sayell and Steve Withers at our ‘Woodland Management’ event
  • Go on a ‘Rare Arable Plant Hunt’ with Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Jenny Rawson, plus much more.

Our new ‘Mid-summer Meet up’ will not be one to miss. Our largest and most ambitious event yet, kindly hosted by Tatjana Greil Castro at Little Haugh Farm, Norton. We have a great line up of speakers including Organic farmer John Pawsey, Josiah Meldrum of Hodmedods, Emily Aitchison of Acre Farm and Kenton Hall Estate, and Farmer Tom, Peterborough Regenerative Farmer. There will be a BBQ with locally produced food, demonstrations, including moth trapping, bat walks and a farm walk.

Please book your tickets for the events via the Eventbrite links on our website. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. All events are free to farmers and landowners. There is also an option to give an optional donation towards our charitable work.
